Frequently Asked Questions

We are, first and foremost, a cafe! We have coffee, tea, and other non-caffeinated drink options both hot and cold. We also have a food menu featuring light breakfasts & lunches, and lots of shareable options for you and your friends.
In the back of the building we have a large play area for little ones so they can be entertained while you sit and relax. Right next to the playroom is a couch area, for you to watch your children in comfort.
Don’t have kids? Bring some friends and enjoy our vast board game collection! We have games of most every genre, from strategy, to party, to family! Here at Press Play Cafe, there is something for everyone.

Press Play Cafe first opened its doors on October 26th, 2020. However, in January 2022, the original owners officially passed it on to their close relatives, who now work closely within the cafe.

We ask that you do not bring any outside food into our establishment, with the only exception being foods for very small children (baby mum mums, gerber puffs, food pouches, etc.). Please remember that while we do have a playroom and you may be coming specifically for that, we are still a food establishment, and our legal permit forbids outside food. We could get in a lot of trouble! Alternatively, it’s rather rude to bring Tim Horton’s or Starbucks into a coffee shop. You wouldn’t buy McDonald’s and eat it in a Wendy’s, would you?

The noise level is quite low. The play area is separate from the seating area which makes children playing nothing more than your typical noise for a public place. We try to encourage parents to keep playing kids in the playing area so those who wish to eat or study can do so without disruption. Can’t expect library silence, but it’s reasonable for what it is!

Playroom admission is $5 for your first child, $4 for the second, and $3 for the third onward. As an example, if you have three children with you, the cost will be a total of $12.

Babies under 1 year play for free, with the purchase of food, drink, or retail.

No, there is no time limit. Most parents and children stay for 1-2 hours.

Our playroom was designed with 5 & under in mind, and as such we ask for older children to find other entertainment, specifically in our vast board game collection. Children age 6 are encouraged to partake in a game, but are allowed in the playroom if that is their preference and will be mindful of any little ones. Kids 7 & up will not be allowed in the area, unless as guardians for younger siblings.

  • Shoes must be removed before playtime, and socks are required.
  • Shoes and bags must be stored in a provided cubby and not on the floor.
  • No food or drink is permitted within the area.
  • All toys MUST stay in the playroom.
  • Rough play is not allowed, and climbing is only permitted on intended structures.
  • You as a parent or guardian are responsible for your child and their actions at ALL times.

Right outside the play area is a comfortable couch area, with a direct view into the playroom. If you need a closer eye, there is a long open windowed wall along the playroom with a banister for setting down drinks.
While drinks are ok in these areas, we request you eat any foods at one of our tables.

Yes, you and your friends will need to pay the admission fee to play.

Admission is $5 per person.

There is no cost for someone sitting at the table but not playing the game.

There is no limit to games you can play. Enjoy our library to your heart’s content!

No, there is no time limit. Just make sure you’re done by closing time 😉

We have a dedicated section for used games so we can check for missing/damaged pieces, make sure the pieces are tidy in the box, and then returned to the proper section on the shelves ready for the next players.

Please do not return games to the shelf yourselves unless they were not opened/played. In this case, please do your best to return them where you found them. 🙂

Yes, of course! However, you do still have to pay the admission fee. Think of it as renting the space rather than the games.
